New Life Community Church
About Us

New Life Community Church had it’s first official Sunday on April 3, 1988, in Herman Street Public School, Petawawa, gymnasium. We built and assumed occupancy of our present building on Christmas Eve, 2000. We are located on Petawawa Boulevard, the main approach into Petawawa’s military base.

We are an independent church, in the sense that we are autonomous and self-supporting. We are a non-denominational fellowship, yet we nevertheless value the larger Body of Jesus Christ, declare our dependence on it, and thank God for the way He has used denominations in history past.

We are affiliated with a network of churches known as Partners in Harvest (PIH). This global network of churches was birthed in Toronto in the 90’s following the outbreak of revival at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship.

Since our inception it has always been our desire to see the church function as a New Testament Church as found in the Book of Acts, a church united, empowered by the Spirit, solidly founded upon the inerrancy of God’s Word, making disciples, and passionately involved in fulfilling The Great Commission as mandated by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20.

 Our Core Values

Core Value # 1

We believe  that  every  individual  is  a  unique  creation  of  God  and  as  a result has infinite worth and value.

No matter what a person’s gender, creed, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or social position may be, we believe that  every  individual  is  the  special  creation of  God  and  someone  for  whom  Jesus  died. As  such each person deserves our respect and our love.

Core Value # 2

We believe that God  has a unique plan and  assignment for every person and our mandate is to bring this Good News to men and women worldwide.

We are  to  be  like Jesus to those  in our sphere of living. We  are  to love  like  Him and bring the message of His wonderful  love  to those outside the kingdom.

Core Value # 3

We believe that  in an atmosphere of love, acceptance and forgiveness, healthy relationships are birthed and cultivated.

Being a  people who love, accept and  forgive creates an environment where each person is free to be themselves, find healing, love and acceptance, and achieve their God-given potential.

Core Value # 4

We  believe in  the importance of esteeming those in other denominations and speaking well of them, recognizing the reality that they are part of our extended family.

The Church of Jesus Christ has a variety of flavors. We are simply one of them. Our brothers and sisters  beyond  the walls of  this assembly are  part  of the same  family  here  on earth, and it is both our duty and our desire to love them as such.

Core Value # 5

We  believe  in the  importance  of  gathering  together as a  community, thereby expressing a value that is dear to us that we are a family to which each one of us belong.

It is important to  us to  cultivate a  sense of  community  where each individual  feels  a sense of belonging.  Therefore  we gather  together  in  a  variety  of  contexts  cultivating community and making each individual feel they are an integral part of our gatherings.

Core Value # 6

We believe that each of us are called to do the very best we can with the gifts and abilities we have been given, and as we do we honor God and inspire those around us.

This is  not an unhealthy compulsion for perfection, but a realization  that God deserves our very best  efforts. Therefore  we  choose  to  honor Him in  whatever we do by embracing  a  servant’s heart  and giving  ourselves to serve Him and others with passion and joy.

Core Value # 7

We  believe that it  is the  role  of  leadership to  help  others  discover  their giftedness and to equip  those  within  Christ’s  body to  achieve  their  God-given potential,  so  that  the  entire church may function as God intended.

Every person in God's kingdome is vital to His plan for humanity.  When we help people discover that their abilities, talents and gifts can be used to extend God's kingdom, we create within them a sense that they are an important part of God's overall plan.

 Core Value # 8

We believe  that  one  of  the  great  purposes  of the  Holy Spirit is to empower us to do great things for God. We believe  that  we  are  ordinary  people, but  with  His  unique  enablement at work within us we believe we can do extraordinary things.

Our aim is to see people empowered and  equipped to be His ambassadors in this world. We aim and envision a body of  people  filled  with love,  desirous  of serving,  overflowing with His Spirit, and moved with compassion to help  others discover Jesus and His wonderful plan for their lives.

What We Believe

We believe there is one God who lives forever in three  persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.    Matthew 28:19-20

We  believe  that the Bible is God’s Word, speaking to  us to-day with authority and without error.    2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, in His Virgin birth, His sinless life, His death for us on the Cross, His resurrection from the dead, His ascension, and His  personal,  physical  return  to  earth in power and glory.   John 1:14-18, I Thessalonians 4:16-18

We believe that all of humanity is lost without Christ, that men and women need to turn to God and be born again into God’s family by the power of the Holy Spirit.   Ephesians 2:1-10, John 3:5-7

We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe He lives in us as believers, and through His indwelling He desires our lives to produce the characteristics of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and  self-control. We  believe  in  His  filling  and in His empowerment for service in His kingdom.  Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11(2)

We believe in the resurrection of every person. We believe that God desires all to be reconciled to Him, but  at  the  end  of  time  there  will  eternal   life  for  believers and eternal judgment for the lost. Matthew 25:31-46

We believe  in  the unity of  all believers in Jesus Christ, and the need to seek community together. We want to become more like  Him  in every way, and that entails  loving Him and loving those within His family.  1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Matthew 22:37-40

We believe that every individual is the unique creation of God, made by His hand, that He is their Creator and Redeemer,  and   therefore   everyone   is   worthy  of  dignity, love and respect.

Psalm 139:13-16, Ephesians 5:1-2
